Phase Two: Mold Design and Manufacturing - The Birth of Precision Tools

Mold design

Precision machining and assembly


Processing technology: Core components such as mold cores and inserts are processed using CNC (Numerical Control milling), EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), wire cutting and other processes.


Surface treatment: Perform specified treatments on the cavity, such as mirror polishing (for transparent parts), VDI etching (such as leather grain), or fire patterns.


Mold assembly (Fitting) : All parts are precisely assembled and debugged by senior fitters to ensure that all moving components operate smoothly and without error.


Phase Three: Mold Testing and Process Optimization - Verification and Fine-tuning

This is the key bridge connecting the mold and mass production.


First mold trial (T0) : Install the mold on the injection molding machine, conduct initial debugging with production materials, and produce the first batch of samples.


Sample evaluation and debugging


Dimensional measurement: Use equipment such as a three-coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and a two-dimensional image measuring instrument to comprehensively inspect key dimensions and compare them with the design drawings.


Visual inspection: Check for defects such as material shortage, flash, shrinkage, air marks, silver streaks, and weld seams.


Functional testing: Conduct relevant tests such as assembly and strength.


Process optimization: Based on the sample issues, systematically adjust parameters such as injection speed, pressure, temperature, and time (often using the DOE experimental design method for efficient optimization).

Phase Four: Mass Production and Process Control - Ensuring Stability

Ensure that every mold of the product meets the standards.


Molding cycle: mold closing → injection → pressure holding → cooling → mold opening → ejection → part removal (automatically completed by the mechanical hand).


Statistical Process Control (SPC) :


Key process parameter monitoring: Real-time monitoring and recording of injection time, peak pressure, material temperature, etc., to ensure process stability.


First Article Inspection (FAI) : At the beginning of each shift or after mold change, a comprehensive inspection of the first product is conducted.


Regular spot checks: Conduct round-robin inspections of the appearance and key dimensions of the products.
