Plastic beads injection moulding is a processing technology that uses injection molding equipment to inject molten plastic into special molds for mass production of plastic beads. This process is suitable for manufacturing various plastic beads with a diameter of 0.5mm-50mm, and is widely used in toys, jewelry, crafts, medical device accessories and other fields.

Its core advantages lie in high production efficiency (hundreds to thousands of plastic beads can be produced in a single mold cycle), high dimensional accuracy (tolerance can be controlled within ±0.02mm) and wide material adaptability (compatible with various plastic raw materials such as PP, PE, PS, ABS, PC, etc.).

A、Core Process Steps

1. Raw Material Preparation

Select plastic pellets that meet product requirements, and add color masterbatches, anti-aging agents and other additives if necessary;

Remove moisture from raw materials through a dryer (especially hygroscopic plastics such as PA and PC) to avoid bubbles after molding;

Pour the treated raw materials into the hopper of the injection molding machine.

2. Plasticization and Melting

The screw in the injection molding machine barrel rotates to push the raw materials forward;

The heating rings outside the barrel heat in zones (usually divided into feeding section, compression section and homogenization section), so that the raw materials gradually melt into a uniform plastic melt;

The melt temperature needs to be adjusted according to the plastic material (e.g., 180-220℃ for PP, 220-260℃ for ABS).

3. Injection Molding

The molten plastic melt is pushed by the high pressure of the screw and quickly injected into the cavity of the special mold for plastic beads through the nozzle;

The injection pressure is usually 50-150MPa, and the injection speed should be controlled at 50-200mm/s to avoid flash or material shortage;

The mold needs to maintain a low temperature (usually 20-50℃) through cooling water circulation to help the melt cool and shape quickly.

4.Demolding and Post-treatment

The mold parting surface opens, and the ejection mechanism pushes the molded plastic beads out of the cavity;

Remove excess waste such as gates and flashes on the surface of plastic beads (can be done manually or by automated equipment);

Conduct subsequent treatment for products with special requirements, such as polishing, dyeing, coating, etc.;

Screen the finished products, test indicators such as size and appearance, and store the qualified products in the warehouse.

B、 Common Problems and Solutions

1. Bubbles on the Surface of Plastic Beads

Cause: High moisture content in raw materials, high melt temperature, and too fast injection speed;

Solution: Strengthen the drying of raw materials (such as extending the drying time to 4-6 hours), reduce the melt temperature by 5-10 ℃, and slow down the injection speed by 20-50mm/s.

2. Excessive Dimensional Deviation of Plastic Beads

Reason: Insufficient mold accuracy, unstable holding pressure, and insufficient cooling time;

Solution: Repair or replace high-precision molds, adjust the pressure fluctuation range to ± 5MPa, and extend the cooling time by 3-5 seconds

3. Flash on Plastic Beads

Cause: Excessive injection pressure, loose fit of mold parting surface, insufficient locking force;

Solution: Reduce injection pressure by 10-20MPa, clean foreign objects on the parting surface of the mold and check the fit, and increase the locking force by 5-10%.
