Plastic Injection Mould Glasses refer to glasses products whose frames (and in some cases, the surrounding structures of lenses) are made using the plastic injection molding process. In this process, molten plastic materials are injected into a specially designed glasses mold cavity. After cooling and solidification, spectacle frame components that meet the designed size and shape are formed. Then, through subsequent processes such as assembling lenses and accessories, complete glasses are finally produced. Compared with glasses made by traditional manual craftsmanship or other molding processes, Plastic Injection Mould Glasses have significant advantages in production efficiency and product consistency.
A、Advantages of Plastic Injection Mould Glasses
1. Lightweight Design
Plastic materials themselves have low density. The spectacle frames made by the injection molding process can effectively control the overall weight and are usually lighter than metal frames. When worn, they can greatly reduce the pressure on the bridge of the nose and ears, and reduce fatigue caused by long-term wearing. They are especially suitable for children, teenagers and people who need to wear glasses for a long time, improving wearing comfort.
2. Diverse Styles and Flexible Design
The plastic injection molding process can realize complex mold design, and can create various spectacle frame styles with unique shapes and smooth lines, such as round, square, cat-eye, irregular shapes, etc. At the same time, by adding color masterbatches of different colors to the plastic raw materials, the frame can be easily colored in multiple colors, and even frames with gradient colors and patterns can be made. This meets consumers' needs for personalized and fashionable glasses, and adapts to different dressing styles and occasions.
3. High Impact Resistance
Materials commonly used to make Plastic Injection Mould Glasses (such as TR90, PC, etc.) have excellent impact resistance. They can effectively disperse the impact force when subjected to external impact, and are not easy to break or deform. Compared with traditional brittle plastic frames or some metal frames, they are safer. This feature makes them especially suitable for sports scenarios, and also reduces the risk of glasses damage or eye injury caused by accidental collisions when children wear them.
4. High Production Efficiency and Controllable Cost
The plastic injection molding process can realize automated continuous production. An injection molding machine combined with corresponding molds can produce a large number of frame components of uniform standards in a short time, and the production efficiency is much higher than that of manual production. At the same time, mass production can reduce the raw material consumption and labor cost per unit product, and the service life of the mold is long. In the long run, it can effectively control the production cost, making Plastic Injection Mould Glasses more competitive in price and meeting the needs of the mass consumer market.
B、Production Process of Plastic Injection Mould Glasses
1. Mold Design and Manufacturing
According to the design drawings of the spectacle frame (including size, shape, structural details, etc.), mold designers use professional software (such as AutoCAD, UG, etc.) to design the 3D model of the mold. They focus on designing key structures such as the cavity (corresponding to the frame shape), core, gating system (to ensure uniform plastic injection), and cooling system (to ensure molding quality). After the design is completed, the mold manufacturer uses high-precision processing equipment (such as CNC milling machines, EDM machines) to process mold steel (commonly used P20, 718H, etc.). Through multiple processes such as milling, grinding, and polishing, a glasses mold that meets the precision requirements is made. Then, mold trial and debugging are carried out to ensure that the mold can produce qualified frame blanks.
2. Raw Material Preparation
Select plastic materials suitable for making spectacle frames. The mainstream materials include TR90 (a high molecular polymer with the characteristics of light weight, impact resistance, and high and low temperature resistance), PC (polycarbonate, with good light transmittance and impact resistance), ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, with high hardness and easy processing), etc. According to the performance requirements and appearance requirements of the frame, the selected plastic raw materials are mixed with additives such as color masterbatches, anti-aging agents, and toughening agents in a specific ratio, and then put into a dryer for drying treatment (to remove moisture in the raw materials and avoid defects such as bubbles and shrinkage cavities in the frame after injection molding), ensuring the dryness and uniformity of the raw materials.
3. Injection Molding
Add the dried plastic mixture into the hopper of the injection molding machine. The raw materials in the hopper enter the heating barrel of the injection molding machine through the feeding device. The heating ring in the barrel heats the raw materials, and at the same time, the screw rotates at high speed to shear and knead the raw materials, so that the raw materials gradually melt into a uniform plastic melt. When the plastic melt meets the set temperature and fluidity requirements, the screw of the injection molding machine injects the plastic melt into the closed glasses mold cavity quickly under high pressure. After the injection is completed, a certain holding pressure is maintained to make up for the volume gap caused by the cooling and shrinkage of the plastic melt in the cavity, ensuring the dimensional accuracy of the frame blank.
4. Cooling, Setting and Demolding
After the injection molding is completed, the cooling system in the mold starts to work. The cooling water in the cooling water channel takes away the heat of the plastic melt in the cavity, so that the plastic melt gradually cools and solidifies, forming a frame blank consistent with the shape of the mold cavity. According to the thickness and material characteristics of the frame, a reasonable cooling time is set (usually tens of seconds to several minutes). After the frame blank is completely solidified, the injection molding machine drives the mold to open, and the frame blank is ejected from the cavity through the ejection mechanism (such as ejector pins, ejector plates) in the mold, completing the demolding process.
5. Post-processing and Assembly
The surface of the frame blank after demolding may have gate marks, flash (excess plastic burrs), etc., which require post-processing: first, use a special tool or grinding equipment to remove the gate and flash, then polish the surface of the frame (such as manual polishing, mechanical polishing) to make the frame surface smooth and shiny; for frames with special appearance requirements, surface treatment processes such as painting, screen printing (printing patterns or logos), and electroplating may also be carried out. After the post-processing is completed, enter the assembly stage: install the lenses (optical lenses processed according to the power requirements) into the lens groove of the frame, adjust the position of the lenses to ensure centering; then install accessories such as temple, hinge, and nose pad, fix them with screws or snap connections, and finally carry out overall debugging (such as adjusting the opening and closing degree of the temple and the height of the nose pad) to ensure that the glasses are comfortable to wear and work normally.

Main Market Application Scenarios
(1)Daily Consumer Glasses Market
In the myopia glasses, hyperopia glasses, and presbyopic glasses worn by the public daily, plastic injection mould glasses occupy a large share. Their diverse styles and affordable prices can meet the needs of consumers of different age groups: teenagers prefer bright-colored and fashionable frames (such as TR90 frames with cartoon patterns), middle-aged consumers pay more attention to the comfort and practicality of the frames (such as lightweight PC frames), and elderly consumers tend to choose ABS frames that are drop-resistant and easy to clean. At the same time, with the rise of the "appearance economy", plastic injection mould glasses have also become fashion accessories, and many consumers will match different styles of frames according to their dressing styles, promoting the continuous growth of the daily consumer market.
(2)Functional Glasses Field
In functional fields such as sports glasses, anti-blue light glasses, and safety protective glasses, plastic injection mould glasses occupy an important position with excellent performance. Sports glasses mostly use TR90 materials to make frames, and their impact resistance and high and low temperature resistance can adapt to various sports scenarios such as running, cycling, and skiing, and the lightweight design can reduce the burden during sports; the frames of anti-blue light glasses are often equipped with anti-blue light coatings, and the close combination of the coating and the frame is realized through the injection molding process to effectively block the blue light emitted by electronic screens; safety protective glasses (such as industrial protective glasses, laboratory protective glasses) are injection-molded with high-strength PC materials, and the frame can resist external impact, protect eye safety, and are widely used in industrial production, scientific research experiments and other scenarios.
