Plastic Injection Pencil Sharpener Moulding refers to a stationery product that produces core components such as knife shells, knife holders, and chip storage boxes through plastic injection molding processes, and cooperates with metal blades to achieve pencil cutting functions. Its core feature is using the injection molding process to realize the integrated or modular molding of pencil sharpener components. The knife shell and chip storage box mostly adopt a snap-on structure (assembly gap ≤0.1mm), with light overall weight (10-30g), small size (diameter 30-60mm, height 20-40mm), and strong drop resistance (no breakage when dropped from a height of 1.5m). Compared with traditional metal pencil sharpeners (heavy, easy to rust) or wooden pencil sharpeners (easy to wear, small chip storage capacity), plastic injection pencil sharpeners have the advantages of low cost, flexible design (can be made into cartoon shapes, multi-color splicing), and large chip storage capacity (5-10 pencil chips). 1. Multi-Component Modular Molding, Convenient Assembly

Integration/Separation Adaptation of Knife Shell and Knife Holder: Basic pencil sharpeners adopt integrated injection molding of knife shell and knife holder (reducing 2 assembly steps), and the knife holder has a built-in blade installation slot;  complex models adopt a split design, and the knife holder is connected to the knife shell through a buckle;

Quick-Detach Structure of Chip Storage Box: The chip storage box and knife shell adopt a rotating buckle or pressing buckle design. The rotating buckle can be opened by rotating only 30 °,  and the pressing force of the pressing buckle is 5-10N, which can be easily operated by children;  the bottom of the chip storage box is designed with anti-slip texture to avoid slipping when opening;

Precise Blade Positioning: A blade fixing hole is reserved in the knife holder during injection molding, and the metal blade is fixed by screws or buckles. The blade cutting angle deviation is ≤1 °, ensuring the sharpness of pencil cutting.

2. Precise Matching of Material Properties, Balancing Durability and Safety

Different components have significant differences in material performance requirements, so targeted selection is needed during injection molding, with particular attention to child safety:

Knife shell and chip storage box: They should be drop resistant, odorless, commonly made of PP or ABS, meet the GB 6675-2014 toy safety standard, and be free of harmful substances such as phthalates; Make rounded corners on the surface to avoid scratching children's hands with sharp edges;

Knife holder: High rigidity is required to fix the blade, and fiberglass reinforced PP is selected for long-term use without deformation; Wear resistant treatment should be applied to the contact area between the knife holder and the blade;

Decorative components (such as cartoon shapes): Made of soft TPR or PVC (Shore hardness 30-40 degrees), integrated with the blade shell through two-color injection molding, with a soft touch, enhancing children's interest in use, and no risk of detachment (peel strength ≥ 10N/m).

3. Small-Size High-Precision Control, Adapting to Pencil Cutting Needs

The size of the pencil sharpener component is small, and injection molding requires strict precision control to ensure stable cutting function:

Pencil entry hole accuracy: The diameter of the entry hole is designed according to the pencil model, with a tolerance controlled within ± 0.1mm, to avoid pencil shaking caused by a large aperture or sticking caused by a small aperture; Chamfering the edge of the entrance hole to guide the smooth insertion of the pencil;

Sealing performance of chip storage box: The bonding surface between the chip storage box and the tool shell adopts a stepped sealing structure to prevent pencil shavings from leaking out of the gap during the cutting process.

(1) Product Design

Structural design: Draw a 3D model using CAD software, with a focus on designing the thickness of the blade shell, the size of the pencil inlet hole, and the clip structure of the chip storage box

Mold material: P20 pre hardened steel or H13 hot work mold steel is selected for the blade shell and chip storage box molds; The knife holder mold uses S136 stainless steel to fix the blades

Mold cavity design: Multiple mold cavities (16-32 cavities for the blade shell mold and 24-48 cavities for the chip storage box mold) are used, with a symmetrical circular layout to ensure uniform filling of each cavity;

Cooling system: Arrange the cooling water circuit according to the shape of the components, and control the cooling time within 8-15 seconds to ensure that the components are quickly shaped and free of internal stress.
