Safety Glasses Injection Moulding refers to professional eye protection equipment that produces core protective structures such as frames and lenses (in some cases, lenses are composite reinforced layers after injection molding) through plastic injection molding processes, and has functions such as impact resistance, scratch resistance, and UV protection. Its core feature is using the injection molding process to realize the integrated or precise adaptation design of the frame and lens. The frame mostly uses impact-resistant polymer materials, and the lens meets protection standards (such as ANSI Z87.1, GB 14866, etc.) through material modification or coating treatment. Compared with traditional glass safety glasses (heavy, fragile) or ordinary plastic safety glasses (weak protection performance), injection-molded safety glasses combine lightweight, high protection and comfort. 1. High Impact Resistance, Strong Protection

The core protection requirement of injection-molded safety glasses is to resist external impact, and their frames and lenses are specially designed and material-selected: lenses usually use polycarbonate (PC) or polyamide (PA) materials, with impact strength of more than 60kJ/m² (200 times that of ordinary glass), which can withstand the impact of a 16mm diameter steel ball falling freely from a height of 1.3m without breaking (meeting the GB 14866 impact resistance test standard); the frame uses TR90 or glass fiber reinforced PA66 materials, with elongation at break ≥30%, which is not easy to break even when subjected to severe impact, avoiding scratches on the face by fragments; some styles design buffer structures (such as elastic hinges) at the connection between the temples and the frame to further disperse the impact force and reduce the risk of eye and face injuries.

2. Integrated Multi-Functional Protection, Adapting to Complex Scenarios

In addition to basic impact resistance, injection-molded safety glasses can achieve multi-dimensional protection through process optimization: the lens surface is coated with a scratch-resistant coating (such as SiO₂ hard coating), with surface hardness above HB level (pencil hardness test), which is not easy to scratch in daily use, ensuring clear vision; coated with UV protection coating (UV400 level), which can block more than 99% of ultraviolet rays (UVA and UVB) with wavelengths of 280-400nm, adapting to outdoor work (such as construction, welding) scenarios; some industrial-style lenses are coated with anti-fog coating (such as hydrophilic nano-coating), which is not easy to fog in high-temperature and high-humidity environments (such as chemical workshops, food processing); the frame adopts a sealed design with anti-side leakage wings, which can block dust, droplets, and chemical liquids from invading the eyes from the side, adapting to laboratories, medical and other scenarios.

3. Lightweight and Ergonomic Design, Comfortable to Wear

The injection molding process can realize the lightweight and fit design of safety glasses: the overall weight is controlled between 20-50g (only 1/3-1/2 of traditional glass safety glasses), and there is no obvious sense of pressure when worn for a long time (such as 8-hour industrial work); the frame adopts an arc-fitting design, the temple arc adapts to the head contour, and the nose pads are made of soft silicone or TPR materials (Shore hardness 30-40 degrees), which have a large contact area with the bridge of the nose and uniform pressure distribution (pressure per unit area ≤1kPa), avoiding pain caused by local pressure; some styles of temples can adjust the length or angle to adapt to different head circumference sizes (people with head circumference 520-580mm), improving wearing adaptability.

4. Environmental Corrosion Resistance, Long Service Life

Safety glasses need to adapt to a variety of harsh environments, and their materials and processes have excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance: the frame uses materials such as TR90 and PA66, which can withstand temperature changes from -30℃ to 120℃ (no embrittlement at low temperatures, no softening and deformation at high temperatures), adapting to high and low temperature work scenarios (such as cold storage, metallurgical workshops); strong chemical corrosion resistance, no discoloration or cracking after contact with common industrial chemicals (such as alcohol, acetone, dilute sulfuric acid), suitable for chemical and laboratory scenarios; the lens coating is firmly combined with the substrate, and after 500 friction tests (friction with a suede cloth applying 5N force), the retention rate of scratch resistance and UV protection performance is ≥90%, and the normal service life can reach 2-3 years, much longer than ordinary protective glasses.

B、Production Process of Safety Glasses Injection Moulding

1. Product Design and Mold Development

First, determine the core parameters according to the protection scenario: industrial glasses need to focus on strengthening impact resistance and chemical resistance (lens thickness 3-5mm, frame wall thickness 2-3mm), outdoor glasses focus on UV protection and lightweight (lens thickness 2-3mm, frame weight ≤30g), and laboratory glasses emphasize sealing and anti-fog properties (frame with wing sealing structure). Draw a 3D model through CAD/CAE software (such as UG, Moldflow), focusing on designing: the optical surface of the lens (ensuring light transmittance ≥90%, no optical distortion), the ergonomic arc of the frame nose pads and temples, and the assembly gap between the frame and the lens (≤0.1mm, avoiding lens loosening). In the mold design stage, the lens mold uses high-precision optical grade mold steel (such as S136), and the cavity surface is polished to Ra≤0.012μm (to ensure lens light transmittance); the frame mold uses P20 or H13 steel, and multiple sets of cooling water channels are set (arranged evenly according to the frame wall thickness, cooling time 15-25s) to avoid deformation after molding. The mold needs to be verified through trial molding: the lens needs to test optical performance (such as light transmittance, diopter error), and the frame needs to test dimensional accuracy (such as temple spacing error ≤0.5mm).

2. Raw Material Preparation and Injection Molding

(1) Lens production

The main raw material for lenses is PC, with the addition of functional additives such as anti UV agents (0.5% -1%, such as UV-531), antioxidants (0.2% -0.3%, to prevent high-temperature degradation), and transparency agents (to improve light transmittance). The raw materials need to be dried (temperature 120-140 ℃, time 4-6 hours, moisture content ≤ 0.02%) to avoid bubbles after injection molding. Adopting a precision horizontal injection molding machine (locking force 100-200 tons, injection accuracy ± 0.1g), process parameters: barrel temperature 260-300 ℃ (front section 260-280 ℃, rear section 280-300 ℃), injection pressure 80-100MPa, holding pressure 60-70MPa, cooling time 20-30s. After injection molding, the lens needs to be annealed (temperature 120 ℃, insulation for 2 hours) to eliminate internal stress and avoid cracking in the later stage.

(2) Mirror frame production

The raw materials for the mirror frame are selected according to the scene: for industrial use, glass fiber reinforced PA66 (with 20% glass fiber added to improve strength) is selected, and for outdoor use, TR90 (lightweight, good toughness) is selected. The raw materials are mixed with color masterbatch (such as prominent yellow and orange for industrial use to improve recognition) and dried (TR90 drying temperature 80-100 ℃, time 2-3 hours). Adopting a medium-sized injection molding machine (locking force of 200-300 tons), process parameters: TR90 material temperature of 230-260 ℃, injection pressure of 70-90MPa; PA66+glass fiber material temperature is 250-280 ℃, injection pressure is 90-110MPa, cooling time is 15-25s. After demolding the mirror frame, the gate residue needs to be removed (using laser cutting, accuracy ± 0.05mm) to avoid scratching the skin.
